Common questions

How do I change the sports or the training days?

Settings → Sports, and Settings → Schedule. Changes apply from the next session onward. Anything already finished stays exactly as it was. Changing the plan never rewrites your history or your streak.

Can I redo the setup from scratch?

Settings → Re-run setup walks through the questions again. That keeps your history. Settings → Delete all progress erases completed workouts, records and badges, and cannot be undone.

Why is today a rest day?

Days you did not pick in Settings → Schedule are rest days, and they never count against a streak. Add the day back and a session appears for it.

My reminders aren't arriving.

Check Settings → Reminders is on, then open the iOS Settings app → DRILL → Notifications and confirm they are allowed. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device, so they still work with no internet connection, but Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can hold them back.

Nothing is being read aloud.

Check Settings → During a workout → Speak each step. If that's on and it's still silent, check the volume during a session and whether another app is holding audio. DRILL lowers other audio rather than stopping it, so music keeps playing underneath.

How does the streak work?

A day counts once you tick off at least one exercise. Rest days never break it, and today never breaks it until the day is over. Missing a scheduled training day does end the streak, but your longest streak is kept on the Progress tab regardless.

What counts as a "workout finished"?

Every exercise in that day's session ticked off. The streak only asks that you showed up; the badges ask that you finished.

How do personal records work?

Nine exercises track a number: best juggling streak, longest broad jump, fastest cone run and so on. Finish one in the step timer and you're asked for the number. Every entry is kept, so the Progress tab can show the trend, not just the best.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Not right now. Everything is stored on the device with no account and no sync, so a second device starts fresh.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. DRILL never makes a network request. It works the same in a park with no signal.

Is my child's data safe?

Nothing is collected and nothing is transmitted. See the privacy policy.

What happened to the old web app?

It still runs at trainwithdrill.com/app and will stay up until the iOS app ships. It has no account either, and its progress lives in that browser's local storage, so it will not carry across.

Requests and bugs

Feature requests are welcome, as are notes on the exercises themselves. If a drill is worded confusingly for a nine-year-old, that is worth an email.
